The Tower
The Tower of Saino
The Tower of Saiano, part of the Saiano complex that includes the Church and the rectory, is remarkable for its historical, religious, and scenic value. The exact dating of the tower is uncertain, with estimates ranging from the 7th to the 14th century. According to Tonini, the masonry structure of the tower, built with sandstone blocks, suggests a date before the mid-1300s. Galassi considers it an ancient bell tower, connected to a church that was part of the Church’s properties in Montefeltro around the 9th century.
The Tower of the Saiano Sanctuary
With this video, I wish to remember the many friends, volunteers, and professionals who, with great dedication, contributed to bringing the Tower of Saiano back to life. A heartfelt thanks also goes to the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Rimini and Crédit Agricole for their generous contributions.
After years of work, the restoration of the Tower of Saiano is finally complete. The tower has been designed as a hermitage cell, intended to host only one person at a time. It is a physical space designed to connect the individual with another cell: the cell of their own heart.
Anyone interested—whether priests, religious individuals, or laypeople—can request to spend a period of reflection and prayer in the Tower, optionally sharing in the prayer moments of the Sanctuary. Typically, guests are invited to manage their own meals. The Tower does not offer hospitality for tourists or for pilgrims passing through for just one night. Hospitality is reserved for those who wish to stay for several days or more, for a time of reflection and prayer, maintaining an atmosphere of silence.
The Tower is divided into three rooms:
- First Room: Contains a table with a small kitchen area, complete with an induction stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishes, and everything needed for cooking.
- Second Room: This room has a bed, a small bathroom with a shower, a small table, a bookshelf, and a wardrobe. Sheets and towels are provided.
- Third Room: Currently accessible via a ladder, it houses a small chapel for prayer.
There is no set fee for accommodation. Guests may leave an anonymous donation in the donation box present in the church.

Interior Structure
Internally, the tower is divided into three floors: the first is used as a kitchen with a fireplace and a water drain, the second as a bedroom with a small wall wardrobe, and the third is accessible only by a ladder. Thanks to contributions from the Province of Rimini, the CARIM Foundation, the Municipality of Torriana, and the generosity of private donors, the tower is now almost fully restored.
